Composer's Notes: The text of Virtue was written by my mother, Amy, in the spring of 2019.  Virtue celebrates four honorable character qualities, or "virtues", found across humanity: gentleness, patience, courage, and kindness.  The strophic text lends itself so much to the musical device of theme and variation.  I had fun taking a melodic motif and figuring out ways to use it throughout the entire piece while still giving each verse a totally unique character.  This song will soon be part of a three part song cycle - stay tuned!
