Composer's Notes: This is the third installment of my "Three Thoughts" song cycle.  The piece opens with a delicious chantlike motif in Latin: Quinquennium, sunt praeterita, which has the meaning of five years going past.  The remainder of the piece takes a journey through remembrances of the seasons, the elements, and landscapes.  I tried to use the piano accompaniment to paint a picture of the vivid scenery depicted in the lyrics.
